VACATION SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT
A vacation scrapbook layout can really benefit from a great paper design and some colourful embellishments. If that means slightly less work for you - hey, you're on vacation, aren't you?!
A FAB BACKGROUND PAPER
My layout had a great head start with this beach-design paper from Frances Meyer.
It was a great creative 'playground' for me to try a couple of ideas out:
SANDCASTLE CROPPING
For this summer vacation page, I was determined to do something different with photo-cropping, and here is the result! You can make 'assymetric' crops like this simply by measuring identical distances from your two top corners, marking the photo, and letting your paper cutter do the rest.
BUILDING PHOTOS IN THE SAND
I took some cream-coloured cardstock and tore it into four little mounds, to hopefully make them even more like sandcastles.
JOURNALING WITH BACKGROUND PAPER (IN SECRET!)
I was so keen on the sand textured background paper that I secretly cut out sections from behind the photos that I could 'Sissix' into letters for my title. I won't say anything if YOU don't!
RUN THIS IDEA UP THE FLAGPOLE!
You can't make a sandcastle without sticking a flag in the top, come on! I went with four cocktail sticks - if you're really observant you can see the top left one is missing (probably still on the floor at the printers).
EMBELLISHING
I added the coloured 'summer' embellishment from Memory Big Ideas, and a bit of geographical reference. (Ireland's fab - but if it's sunny get straight to that beach!)
